Cookery Theatre

At last year’s Kilnsey Show, one of the most popular areas in the REAL Food and Farming village was the cookery theatre, where local chefs were invited to demonstrate to an audience using local produce. We would like to extend the benefits of this message this year by producing a series of video podcasts and delivering them on the internet prior to and following the event and through a network of busy food related and lifestyle web sites.

The Kilnsey Show

The Kilnsey Show is one of the largest one day agricultural shows in the calendar and regularly attracts a large crowd of between 12, 000 to 15, 000 people. Even with the torrential rain of last years show the attendance was still high. The REAL event at Kilnsey comprises a village made up of large marquees designed to entertain and inform the public, this has been a very popular attraction at the show since it’s debut in 2007 and is supported by a wide range of sponsors. Last year’s event was opened by The Duke of Devonshire and attracted coverage from a range of media including local television and BBC Radio 4.

REAL at the Kilnsey Show in the Yorkshire Dales.

REAL Food & Farming is an organisation established to support the Yorkshire Dales uplands and the communities and businesses that depend on them.

Hill farming communities play a vital role in many areas of our lives, literally providing access to everything from food to fresh air. A vital part of the local economy is food production and part of our role is to help raise awareness of the passion and expertise that goes into producing and presenting the food that is available locally. For the last two years we have achieved this by presenting a showcase event at the annual Kilnsey show. This year we would like to extend the message further by presenting entertaining and useful content prior to and after the Kilnsey event to a wider audience.
